14-Aug-2021 | Habitat for Humanity

Updated: Dec 12, 2021

As you are probably aware from media attention, the lack of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing families in Wake County and in our area. The work of Habitat for Humanity and volunteers like us are helping address that problem one house at a time.

KOHS will support an upcoming project building three homes in Apex at 1134 Kissena Lane.

The kick off for the wall build for our project will be on Saturday, August 14, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the home sites. We have been asked if we can send three to five volunteers that day in addition to having someone who can participate in a kick off celebration for the project that will be held at 11:15 a.m. that day also at the site. In addition, we are being asked if we can provide volunteers (10 to 15 if possible) and lunch on a Saturday sometime between August 21 and October 30 to work on the homes from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We have checked our church calendar as well as looked at what dates have not already been spoken for by other churches in the coalition, and it looks like September 18 is a potential date.

We are sending out a doodle poll to gauge potential interest in helping on August 15, September 18, or on both dates. Responding to the poll does not obligate you to work on either of those dates, but it helps us determine if we can commit to one or both of these dates. If you are not available for a full day, but could help for a half day, go ahead and check that you are available to help.
